Dora Obwaka, who gave herself the name Jesus Girl, once walked through darkness, struggling with addiction, despair, and the weight of brokenness. Even during her lowest moments, some people still saw a spark in her—a spirit that refused to die.
Her name “Jesus Girl” emerged after her rehabilitation journey—not from supernatural visions, but from a personal realization: she truly believes that Jesus loves her. Over time, she understood that true identity comes from carrying Jesus in one’s heart, not merely claiming a title.
Today, Dora is an entrepreneur, a servant of Jesus Christ, and the sole founder of Jesus Girls Closet. She runs her clothing business while supporting her mother in rehabilitation center responsibilities, helping others battling struggles she once personally endured.
Dora deeply values her family and every opportunity life offers her, because she understands something many never experience: She was almost gone. Her journey taught her that rebuilding is a lifelong process, not a one-time event, and her life now reflects faith, purpose, and hope for others.
Dora grew up in church and actively served, yet she lived a double life. While maintaining a Christian appearance, she struggled with partying, rebellion, and destructive habits outside church walls.
At seventeen, she took her first drink and began experimenting with drugs. Slowly, church became distant as addiction took control. Influenced by unhealthy relationships and environments, alcohol turned into a daily dependency, soon accompanied by cigarettes and weed.
What began as experimentation evolved into identity. She openly embraced substance use, developing a careless attitude toward consequences.
At nineteen, she involuntarily entered rehabilitation for the first time.After 3 months its sad to say that the rehabilitation did not help her becouse her heart was far off from wanting change
For nearly six years, addiction dominated her life.Her lowest moment came when she consumed spiked marijuana containing traces of heroin, pushing her deeper into physical and emotional deterioration. Despite her parents’ relentless efforts—even relocating opportunities abroad—she remained trapped.
The breaking point arrived when her mother found her lying by the roadside, barely recognizable. In desperation, her mother cried out to God.
Soon afterward, Dora chose recovery and joined;Teen Challenge(A faith-based rehabilitation facility)marking the beginning of genuine transformation.Surely God was redirecting her
The early stages were painful. Withdrawal symptoms tested her strength daily, but prayer became her anchor. Slowly, healing began—not only physically, but spiritually.She even said,
During this period, Dora realized her survival carried purpose. She understood that her life was not merely being restored—it was being redirected.
Her journey has included setbacks, including relapses after rehabilitation. Yet each return strengthened her understanding that transformation is a continuous journey rather than a single moment of victory.
Today, Dora walks a path of faith, recovery, and service—turning past pain into hope for others still searching for freedom.
